Summer Court Closures 2026
June - September 2026
Regrettably, we will not be able to hold Doubles by the Shore this summer due to the upcoming court resurfacing
The scheduled court closure dates will impact our summer programs significantly, which run throughout June and July and are a major source of income for our tennis professionals and the West Vancouver Tennis Club. Due to the closures, the Board has decided not to proceed with the tournament in 2026. However, this will mean more opportunity for programs and member play during the outdoor season.
Summer Court Resurfacing and Repair Project 2026
As many of you are aware, courts 3, 4 and 5 have several undesirable surface irregularities, meaning that the subsurface soil conditions under these courts will require regular maintenance every seven to eight years.
We are proceeding with a two-phase project to resurface all five courts this summer, as approved at the Special General Meeting earlier this year.
Resurfacing must take place while the bubble is down and is therefore weather dependent. Please note that during both phases, all courts will be closed for the duration of the installation.
Schedule of Court Repair Project
Phase One: Courts 1 and 2 – End of June through Early July
- June 29 – July 5: Court surfacing includes two days of curing. Courts to reopen July 6.
VanOpen Practice
- July 25 – July 29: Courts will be closed from 9 am to 5 pm
Phase Two: Courts 3, 4 and 5 – End of July through End of August
- July 30 – Aug 6: Paving
- Aug 7 – 21: Asphalt curing (two weeks). Courts will be pressure washed on Aug 21.
- Aug 22 – Aug 31: Court surfacing. Includes two days of curing. Courts to reopen Sept 1!
Thank you for your understanding. Please feel free to contact the Club’s president, Geoff Adair, with any questions or concerns.
