After a three-year hiatus, the Bollywood Calcutta Tournament is making a triumphant return this November!  Get ready for some thrilling matches, friendly competition, and a celebration of the beautiful game we all love.    This tournament sees evenly matched mixed doubles teams compete over 5 days of fun social play, and culminates in a Bollywood themed party complete with prizes for best costume and delicious Indian food.

Members only.

The Calcutta Format

  • All levels of play are welcome!
  • Individual registrants are matched by Paul and Karin to create evenly matched mixed doubles teams.
  • An fun auction takes place the night before play begins, at which time the teams are revealed. Members are invited to make cash bids on each team, with the team being ‘sold’ to the highest bidder.
  • Auction proceeds go towards prizes for the owners and players of the winning teams.

Registration

  • Opens Friday, November 3, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. (noon)
  • Registration closes:
    • Players: Friday, November 24, 2023
    • Party Only: Tuesday, November 28 at noon
  • Entry Fee (includes GST):
    • Players: $50 per person, includes party
    • Party Only: $35 per person
  • No avoidances.
  • The number of players is limited to 64.
  • Registration is online on an individual basis,  first come, first served.

Member Login

    • Click on the ‘Classes and Events’ menu
    • Use the ‘Categories’ filter at top left and select ‘Event’
    • Locate the ‘Calcutta Tournament’ event, and click ‘Select’ or (‘Join Waitlist’ if there is room on the waitlist).

The Calcutta Auction Social

  • Monday, November 27, 2023, 7 p.m. – Club lounge
  • Team assignments and draw by Paul and Karin are revealed on auction night!
  • All members are welcome to attend and bid on teams. Cash bids only.
  • Wine and beer available by donation.

Match Play

  • Tournament dates: Tuesday, November 28 to Saturday, December 2.
  • Format: Two full sets, plus a third set tie breaker if necessary, approximately 90 minutes.
  • All matches will be played Tuesday to Friday evenings 5:30-10:00 p.m.
  • Finals will be played Saturday 12.30-5.30 p.m.  Viewing court available.
  • The bar will be open, serving wine and beer by donation

Tournament Party

  • Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Authentic Indian dinner, decor and music.
  • Wine and beer available by donation.
  • Prizes for the best costumes! (Dress-up is optional)
