WVTC Tennis Ladders: 2026 -2027 Season

Ladders are a fantastic way to enjoy competitive tennis at every level. The West Vancouver Tennis Club offers ongoing Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Women’s Doubles box ladders throughout the season.

Players of all skill levels are welcome to participate! Ladders offer an engaging way to meet new hitting partners, gain match confidence, and contribute results toward your official ITF World Tennis Number (WTN). Registration is open now for our upcoming fall and winter sessions, concluding with an end-of-season wrap-up party in the spring!

Ladders Play Basics

  • Structure & Divisions: Play is organized into tiered round-robin boxes: 2.5+ and 3.5+ to ensure competitive, balanced matches.
  • Sessions:
    • Singles: 10-week sessions (Fall, Winter, and Spring).
    • Women’s Doubles: Shorter 6-week sprint sessions-only one partner needs to register for the team! At the end of the 6 weeks you can stick together or rotate to try new partnerships in subsequent sessions.
  • Box Size & Match Generation: Box groups are capped at 16 players or teams. Once registration closes, round-robin match fixtures are automatically generated for all opponents in your box.
  • Flexible Play (No Pressure): You are not required to play every match, nor will you be penalized or have your WTN negatively impacted for unplayed matches. Arrange and play as many matchups as your schedule permits!
  • Scheduling: Players self-schedule matches and book courts directly through GameTime using standard member booking slots.
  • Standings & Movement: Standings are calculated by points earned for matches played. At the end of each session, movement occurs between divisions (e.g., the winner of the 2.5+ box can elect to move up into the 3.5+ division for the next session). Subsequent sessions will be added throughout the season-members can join at any time if space permits!

Match Format & Court Timing

  • Warm-up: Strictly limited to a 15-minute maximum so full sets can finish on time.
  • Scoring: Standard 8-game pro set with regular advantage (Ad) scoring.
  • Tiebreaker: At 7–7, play a standard 7-point tiebreak (first to 7 points, win by 2).
  • Buzzer Rule (90-Minute Booking): Play stops strictly at the end of your 90-minute court booking. If unfinished when time expires, the player or team ahead in total games wins the match. If dead tied, play one sudden-death point to determine the winner for score submission.

Balls & Court Etiquette

  • Tennis Balls: The home player/team (or challenger) supplies a new, unopened can of approved tennis balls. The player who brings the balls keeps them at the end of the match.
  • Sportsmanship: Please adhere to standard tennis etiquette and fair play at all times.
  • Court Time: Please remain on the court for the full 90-minute booking even if your match concludes early—use the remaining time for social rallying.
